NEWBIE MIKHALE TELLS IT LIKE IT IS!

Newcomer Mikhale Jones is ready to sweep music lovers off their feet. The 25-year-old neo soul, pop and trap singer will give Mzansi music inspired by the likes of Snoh Aalegra, Anne-Marie, Kehlani, Jhene Aiko Aaliyah and Brandy.

Speaking to SunBuzz the singer, who holds a BA in live performance, said she believes music is her calling. “I believe music found me. I was one of those kids who always entertained the family at parties,” she said.

“At that point I realised I enjoyed being in the creative space. My mum got me into dance classes. “In primary school I did poetry, eventually it became rap, then I started singing after high school. “I stuck to singing because I realised it allows me to do all these things I love in one.

“I officially started pursuing music professionally in 2015 when I got to university.” Mikhale, who’s new to the game and started releasing music last year, dropped a new single, “The song is about motivating people to go for the careers they want and believe that they’ll make it,” she said.

“We thought it would be a smart idea to title it Casio, so I align myself with the brand.

“It’s crazy how the universe aligns things because Casio has decided to sponsor me and support the single. “Also, because my fan base is community based, I decided to get them involved because they got me this far.

“I put up a competition to get designers and graphic designers to design merchandise around the single. Also, God-willing, I’ll also get to give out Casio calculators to people who need them.”

Mikhale is working on an album titled It Is What It Is “The album will drop in April. There’s no nice or glittery stuff,” she said.

“I’ll be telling people things as they need to hear them.

“But I’ll be dropping one more single before the album drops.”
